In this project, I worked with type and motion to visualize the poem The Caged Bird by Maya Angelou.

Process
This project started with the design of a poster that was eventually going to be animated. I first created iterations of the poster starting with sketches, and then refining them in Illustrator with implemented typography. For my end result, instead of using a literal cage, I used the letter "A" from the title of the poem and made that the cage for the bird. Additionally, I wanted to make each bird out of the letters of their "names". For the typeface, I originally started with the font Bodoni due to it's cage-like appearance, but ultimately decided to use Futura as it fit the best into the bird shape.
