The Ohio State University | Typographic Design | Autumn 2021
Description
Over the course of the semester, I did a series of typographic investigations using the typeface Clarendon by Robert Besley. Each study's complexity was cumulative and heavily iterated with the intention of combining them into one book at the end.

Process
Every class meeting included a class critique and a one-on-one critique with my professor. Every section of the project required at least 10 distinct iterations to start. Designs would then be narrowed down and refined until completion. Throughout this class, I was designing or refining around 2-3 sections at a time.
Reflection
I have always been interested in typography and I really enjoyed getting to study one typeface so in depth. I grew to love Clarendon as the semester went on. If I were to do this project again, I would do it with a sans-serif typeface to be able to compare iteration processes. I think it would change my perspective and approach for a few of the studies, specifically, the Letters: Typographic Details section.
