Description
This project showcases the story of the Slow Food movement that originated in Rome, Italy. The story of the movement is told through a progression of pages in book form. The book itself was created using an accordion fold structure.  It was designed with the intention of educating others on the principles of the movement and how they can apply them to their own lives.

Process
I started this project by doing a lot of research about Slow Food and its history. I then narrowed down the information to include what was most essential for the movement's story. I wanted to specifically highlight the purpose and principles of the Slow Food movement. I then started collecting lots of different images that would aid in my storytelling. I took many elements from their own website, including the snail motif, as well as the map at the end. The colors (green, white, & red) and the typeface (Bodoni) are a tribute to the movement's roots in Italy. This accordion book was made entirely in photoshop.
Reflection
This project deepened my exploration of the dynamics of form and counter-form within photographs, as well as understanding and utilizing interactions between typography and imagery. I thoroughly enjoyed working on this project as its contents related directly to my personal beliefs and my heritage. If I had the time and ability, I would love to speak to the current heads of Slow Food: Italy to gain more knowledge and perspective on the movement. If I were to continue this project, I would add a personal call to action to teach the viewer exactly how to integrate these principles into their own lives to the end of the book.
